It’s been a few years since I released the original Heart of Thunder mod. Now, after what seems like an age, I’ve updated it.

The mod has been rebuilt from scratch, including (mostly) new meshes and new textures. Implementation has been simplified too. There are no exotic crafting materials, no jumping through hoops. Just pick up the hammer, craft the armour and smite away.

Installation & Uninstallation

Use of a mod manager (NMM, Mod Organizer) is recommended, otherwise simply extract into your Data folder.

New in 1.41

Given the change in base IDs it’s recommended to remove all the armor/weapons from your character, uninstall 1.2, make a clean save and install 1.3.
To save you the hassle of reaquiring all the gear, there’s a test chest behind a tree outside the Helgen exit with all the gear in.

Armour

The armour comes in both heavy and light varieties. I’ve attempted to keep the stats balanced. They are similar to Ebony or Stalhrim, and benefit from the Ebony smithing perk for tempering, but it’s not required crafting. The armour can be crafted once you pick up and equip Mjölnir and can be crafted at the Skyforge under the Ebony section. The cape can be crafted under Misc.

The heavy and light differ not only in stats but in appearance.
The light version is modelled after Thor’s armour in Thor: The Dark World, is sleeveless with bronze trim.

Cuirass: A-38 W-6
Helmet: A-16 W-1
Bracers: A-11 W-1
Boots: A-11 W-1

The heavy version takes after the armour in Avengers: Age of Ultron, has scalemail sleeves and silver trim.

Cuirass: A-43 W-35
Helmet: A-21 W-7
Bracers: A-16 W-6
Boots: A-16 W-6

Mjölnir

Now, Mjölnir is a slightly different story. It’s base stats are similar to an Ebony mace and benefits from one-handed Mace related perks. Upon picking up the weapon you will be granted 3 Lesser Powers: Mjölnir’s Might, Mjölnir’s Fury and Mjölnir’s Storm Summon.

Mjölnir’s Might:

Toggleable weapon enchantment. Equip the power then toggle it on or off. Power attacks will send the target flying with a strength equivalent to all 3 words of Unrelenting Force. There will also be a lightning explosion which causes 20 shock damage to all in its radius. The shockwave will knock back most in that same radius. The shockwave is actually non-hostile so as not to accidentally aggro friendlies, however, be careful using it indoors with companions.

Block Bashing will fire a bolt of lightning from the hammer equivalent to the vanilla Thunderbolt spell. Hold the attack button down while holding block to trigger the spell. Tapping attack while blocking will not work.

Mjölnir’s Fury:
Toggleable weapon enchantment. Power attacks will send forth a bolt of chain lightning. When outdoors, if your aim is true, a bolt of lighting from the sky will strike your target.

Mjölnir’s Storm Summon:
Does exactly what it says. Summons a storm equivalent to the 3rd level Call Storm shout (180s).

Mjölnir: D-20 W-14

Mjölnir can be found up the small mountain in the middle of Whiterun plain. As you approach you’ll see a pillar of light, head towards that. You’ll find the hammer bathed in a rather pretty and atmospheric shaft of light. (see images)

Stormbreaker
Stormbreaker. A Kings weapon. Meant to be the greatest in Asgard. This mighty battleaxe cannot be found, it must be forged. Only the Aetherium Forge has fires hot enough to work the mystic metals required. (of course by mystic metals I mean entirely vanilla ones). Upon equipping Stormbreaker you’ll be granted 3 Lesser Powers. Stormbreaker’s Wrath, Stormbreaker’s Rage and Stormbreaker’s Storm Summon.

You must have access to the Aetherium Forge from the Dawnguard DLC.
Crafting recipe:

Ebony Ingot x2
Quicksilver Ingot x3
Dwarven Ingot x2
Firewood x4
Taproot x1
Firesalts x1

Stormbreaker’s Wrath:
Similar to Mjölnir’s Might but far more powerful, disgustingly overpowered even. Damages opponents for 180pts over a 65ft radius, whilst knocking them flying. Also fires a bolt of Chainlighting for 60pts of damage.

Stormbreaker’s Rage:
Summons a cyclone equivalent to the 3rd level Cyclone shout.

Stormbreaker’s Storm Summon:
Exactly the same as Mjölnir’s version.

Stormbreaker: D-25 W-26

God of Thunder

Upon equipping Mjolnir you’ll be granted this Greater Power. Once a day you can unleash the full might of your godly power. The power lasts for 147 seconds. Exactly the same length as Led Zeppelin’s Immigrant Song.

80% resistance to Fire, Frost and Shock.
Fortify Health, Magicka and Stamina rates by 100%
Fortify Heavy and Light Armour by 100
Fortify 1H and 2H by 25
Fortify Destruction by 50
Cure Disease and Poison
100% Resist Disease and Resist Poison

Plus glowing eyes and lightning. Proper Godmode.

Q: Will you make Captain America/Iron Man/blah blah etc.?
A: See previous answer.

Q: I like the mod, but can you change such n’ such to suit my own specific taste?
A: Not a chance.

Q: Can you port this to XB1?
A: Already did.

Q: CaN U pOrT tO Ps4?
A: LOL

One more thing.
For those of you who can’t be bothered with all that running around and crafting business, there’s a chest behind a tree outside the Helgen exit with all the gear in. Note, the female fur collar cape is borked.

Description
===========

Doing away with all that lore-friendliness and immersion business, Heart of Thunder: Asgard Edition brings you Thor’s armour and Mjölnir.

This mod is largely identical to my previous Heart of Thunder mod but with the weapons and armour renamed.

Acquiring the armour
====================

Here are step-by-step instructions on how to get the items ingame. A lot of the issues people have had stem from simply not reading the instructions. So to remedy this I’ve laid it out as clearly as I can.

— In that alcove is a chest. Open it and you’ll find a book called ‘If He Be Worthy’.

— Read it and you will be granted the Heart of Thunder perk and two spells; Wrath of the Thunderer and Thor’s Fury.
NOTE: You must read the book from either your inventory or the world (i.e. dropping it and reading it from the ground). Reading from the chest inventory will not grant you the perk or spells.

— Also in the chest are Aetherium ingots and void salts. Take them and head to Whiterun.

— Once in Whiterun, head to the Skyforge as the items can only be crafted there. In addition to having the Heart of Thunder perk, you must also have a skill of at least 50 in Smithing in order to craft the items.

— The items can be found under the ‘MISC’ category. However should you have Dawnguard installed, they can be found under the ‘Aetherium’ category.

— By this time you will have noticed that you do not have enough Aetherium ingots to craft or temper the full set. No problem. Just head to the nearest smelter with some Void Salts, Iron ore, Corundum ore and Ectoplasm and you can smelt more.

The armour cuirass has two variants; Heavy and sleeveless Light. Mjölnir also comes in an unenchanted version as well.

Delete all files pertaining to this mod, or if you used Nexus Mod Manager, let NMM do it.

Incompatibility
===============

Currently incompatible with SkyRe.

[NOTE] As I do not personally use SkyRe, this mod wasn’t made with compatability in mind.
If anyone wishes to make a compatability patch for SkyRe and upload it to the Nexus, you are most welcome to. If so, please inform me so that I can add it to this page.

It is not reccommended to to use this alongside the original Lore Friendly Heart of Thunder due to conflicts.

Known Issues or Bugs
====================

The book script works when reading from either the player inventory or the world. For whatever reason it won’t run when reading from the chest inventory.

Sometimes the book may not grant you the perk and or the crafted armour is invisible. To remedy this simply download the loose files version from the file section

Long ago, during the dreaded Dragon Wars there rose a hero. Blessed by Kyne with weapons forged from the heavens and the power to bend the storm itself to his will, this hero was the Thunderer.

Description
===========
This mod is an attempt to bring lore-friendly Thor style weapons and armour to Skyrim. With this you’ll get the Sovngarde Steel set (cuirass, helmet, bracers and boots and an unenchanted hammer) and the enchanted hammer Sahrot Strun Tu (‘Mighty Storm Hammer’ in the dragon tongue).

Both armour and hammers are craftable only at the Skyforge and fully temperable. However you require both level 50 in Smithing and the Heart of Thunder perk to craft them. The perk also grants a boost to stamina regen and resistance to magic. Both armour and weapons show up under Aetherium at the forge.

Upon being granted the perk, you’ll also recieve the Wrath of the Thunderer spell, a powerful streaming lightning spell which can also be used to ignite oil slicks. You’ll also get Kyne’s Fury, a devastating AoE lightning spell. As it’s so powerful it can only be used once a day.

—Acquiring the Armour—
Here are step-by-step instructions on how to get the items ingame. A lot of the issues people have had stem from simply not reading the instructions. So to remedy this I’ve laid it out as clearly as I can.

— Head up the 7000 Steps toward High Hrothgar. About two thirds of the way up you will come across a large alcove (there’s usually a troll standing on top of it).

— In that alcove is a chest. Open it and you’ll find a book called ‘The Legend of the Thunderer’.
